As we enter our fifth week of “lockdown” here in the UK, we are still busying ourselves behind the scenes to ensure that we are ready to hit the ground running to be back more beautiful and more ready than ever before here at Talhenbont Hall, one of the most exclusive wedding venues in Wales. We love to stay “on trend” here at Talhenbont and working with wedding industry experts such as Springbank Flowers and Cheeky Chilli Caterers we know that we are spot on when it comes to the biggest wedding trends to look out for year on year.

We are able to make suggestions to couples according to their style and budget. When it comes to wedding trends, the styling of your wedding extends to everything from the dress, the flowers, the menu, the stationary and even the cake. Some of the most stunning weddings we have had here on our exclusive country estate in North Wales have incorporated a style that flows throughout who whole wedding and the attention to detail we have seen from some couples is unbelievable, even down the soles of the bride’s shoes!

There are some distinctive trends emerging for the 2020 / 2021 wedding season. Some a more “out there” than others and might not work for you as a couple, but it’s fun to know what the wedding experts are saying.

Sustainability

Sustainability was the buzzword for 2019 and it’s going to be even bigger as we move through 2020 / 21. We see more couples cutting single use plastics out of their wedding along with synthetic confetti. We do not allow synthetic confetti due to our peacocks and ducks that wander freely around our Estate. They are instead getting creative with less wasteful options. There are many tips and tricks that you can use to make your wedding eco-friendly. You could use real petal confetti that’s biodegradable, we do allow this at the Estate. This also make for some amazing photographs, with the beautiful colours of real blooms. One mother of the bride dried rose petals from her garden in the Aga for weeks running up to her daughter’s wedding. Talk about dedication! A lovely idea is to offer plants or seeds as wedding favours. Your guests can grow a sunflower or your favourite flower and it’ll always remind them of your special day. Have a chat with your florist and ask where they source their flowers. Some florists have cutting gardens and grow their own which is brilliant, however, even if they are out-sourcing, most florists would encourage couples to opt for flowers that are in season to reduce the carbon footprint.

Minimalism

The trend for a muted colour palette ad softer textures continues in 2020. It is sometimes harder than you think to create a minimalist look. We loved the Boho Luxe look created by Springbank at our last open day. It had a little less greenery and a little more pampas grass and dried flowers. Venues will be lined with lots of stripped-back wooden furnishings which is a perfect look to opt for in The Coach House. Following on from this, many brides will be opting for all over satin gown with no embellishments or embroidery pared with simple hair and make up and a slick bun.

Maximalism

Contrasting with the minimalist trend is an over the top, cranked up to the max look, in every possible way. We’ve not seen it yet at Talhenbont, however, wedding stylists are introducing bright, tropical colours, extravagant floral displays! It’s a look we’d love to see! Brides are also opting for an untraditional wedding gown or trouser suit. Look books are full of bright colours with a lot of cand tropical green. This is ramped up from the favourite of 2019, a dark eucalyptus green. We’d love to see this in place in our luxury venue. We think it would really work well. The Coach House is a blank canvas that can be dressed to suit any theme. We work closely with Anna-liise from Springbank and her team. She is a creative genius and would love to chat to any couple to work on ideas.

Something Bold then something Blue!

Pantone have announced that the “Colour of the Year” for 2020 is “Classic Blue.” They liken this shade to “the sky at dusk.” This could be the perfect opportunity to work the “something blue” in across the board on your big day. The advantage of blue is that it’s a shade that works year round, plus the light and airy feel to the Coach House means that it can take any colour palette. If you are planning on getting married in spring or summer, use lighter hues of the colour, that look great with soft pinks, peaches and lemon yellows. For Autumn or Winter weddings you could try deeper blues with burnt oranges or a rich and dark burgundy or green. Gorgeous!

Industrial / Grunge

Another trend that we’d love to see at Talhenbont is the industrial / grunge look. First impressions of Talhenbont Hall is that it lends itself to a classic country house look, however, we have ensured that by keeping the interiors simple in The Coach House, we could really see a couple making the most of high ceilings and exposed brick by adding bright neon signs and funky lighting. The Event Edit provide some beautiful neon signs. Cheeky Chilli are bang on trend with their evening “street food” offering that has proved to by hugely popular. We’ve had some incredible musicians bringing a whole “new cool” to the evening’s entertainment. For hip couples looking for something totally different and great fun, you could even opt for a temporary tattoo bar to keep your guests entertained! Watch this space!

Have you spotted a wedding trend that you think is quite “out there”?
