Abbie and Greg’s romantic North Wales Wedding. A magical celebration filled with family and friends. Here, we give you a peek inside Abbie and Greg’s dreamy Talhenbont Hall wedding day which we proudly hosted on the 15th of November 2021.
Early Days
After meeting at a festival in Wales, a little over 9 years ago, Abbie and Greg have been inseparable.
“We met when we were just 16 and 17 years old. We had seen each other at a festival in Wales. After a few months Greg sent me a message over Facebook, and we began talking from there. After a few dates at the beach, we knew we wanted to be together. And now here we are, married after 9 years of being together. Greg says his first attraction to Abbie was her smile. Abbie’s first attraction to Greg was that he made her laugh until her stomach hurt, he still does that every day.”
The Proposal
In 2017 Greg surprised Abbie with a trip to Iceland for her 21st birthday which was incredible. Whilst there they decided to take a northern lights tour in hope that they were lucky enough to see them. It was around 1am and they were stood in the middle of a secluded forest waiting to see the northern lights which were nowhere to be seen. As it was getting later and colder, Abbie then decided that they would come back the next day to try again and started heading towards the bus. Greg pulled Abbie back and said “let’s get one last picture” whilst putting the camera on a post with the timer set. As the flash went, Greg got down on one knee and asked Abbey to marry him, it was the best feeling in the world! And for the magical part, the northern lights appeared around 5 seconds later. It was a dream, Abbie said; “I couldn’t have wished for a more perfect proposal.”
Discovering Talhenbont Hall
“We initially struggled to find a wedding venue we really liked at first. We had been to see various venues in various places, but nothing was really making us think WOW, until we drove up to the beautiful Talhenbont Hall Estate. When we got out the car, we knew this was the one!”
“Talhenbont Hall Estate has a nice feel to it with all the original features and vintage furniture which we absolutely loved. The grounds are beautiful with manicured lawns surrounded by a forest with a river running through the Estate. The whole thing was just the full package! When we first looked at the North Wales Wedding Venues around 3 years ago, Alicia and Paul who own and run the Venue had made plans to turn one of the outbuildings into a beautiful Coach House and at the time it was just a shell. However, we knew Alicia and Paul had an incredible vision and we trusted it was going to be the perfect space we could have our dream wedding.”
For Abbie and Greg, one of the main reasons they booked Talhenbont Hall Estate for their celebration is that it felt so intimate and personal to them. They had exclusive use of the Venue over three days which meant family and friends could stay the night before the Wedding, right the way through till the day after the Wedding. Alicia and Paul played a huge part in making sure Abbie and Greg stayed calm and stress free whilst planning their wedding, especially after having to postpone their original date due to covid-19 gathering restrictions.
Memorable Moments
Beforehand Greg was calm for the Ceremony but was extremely nervous for the speech. Once the music began and he was stood at the end of the Aisle waiting for me he felt so overwhelmed with emotions that he can’t really remember anything from the Ceremony.
Abbie didn’t manage to sleep much at all the night before which then enhanced the nervous feeling in the morning. It was a very emotional morning getting ready with her bridesmaids and family, however as soon as Abbie was with her dad Cliff, she felt calm and ready to walk down the aisle.
The speeches were the main thing that stood out as they were something we weren’t originally going to have due to the Groom and Father of the Bride being extremely nervous. They were very emotional but also funny and we were really pleased with how well they went in the end. We have never seen so many men cry in one room!
What Made Your Day Extra Special?
All the suppliers were unbelievably helpful and made the day so special, especially Alicia and Paul. Even though we had to change wedding date due to COVID all suppliers were happy to make the date change as easy as possible for us and saved us so much stress. We can’t thank them all enough. We also feel so blessed that we have been able to have the wedding of our dreams.
