Below is a guidance for planning a wedding on a shorter timescale.

6-8 Months Before Your Wedding – Setting Budget & Booking your Venue
(Set Budget, Book Venue, Registrar & Guestlist)
In the first month you’ll need to set your budget, establish how much you can spend and prioritise areas where you’re willing to spend or save. We recommend priorisiting the Top 3 areas which both of you feel are most important to you – and focus your budget on those areas.
One of the first decisions you’ll need to make is to decide on your wedding date and your wedding venue. You’ll need to check the Registrar (or Church or Chapel) is available on the date you have chosen.
At Talhenbont Hall we can reserve a date for 7 days with no obligation whilst you wait for confirmation from the registrar, Church or Chapel.
Starting a guest list early is also important, decide on an approximate headcount early, as this will influence your venue, catering, and overall costs.
At Talhenbont we hold an initial planning meeting within a few weeks of couples booking with us. At this meeting we go through the flow of the day with suggested timings. This really helps to give structure to your day.
Say ‘Yes to the Dress!’, start dress shopping right away. Lead times on wedding dressescan be long depending on the design you have opted for.
You’ll need to factor in time for first fitting and any alterations, so we suggest doing this as soon as you have booked your venue.
Be sure to book appointments at wedding boutiques rather than just turning up on the day

5-6 Months Before Your Wedding – Assemble Your Team
(Book Key Suppliers, Send Save-the-Dates & Choose Your Bridesmaids)
Secure your suppliers: photographer, videographer, caterer, florist, and entertainment as soon as possible. Popular vendors may book out months in advance, so don’t delay!
Talhenbont has a recommended supplier list to help and we tag all suppliers used on our Instagram and Facebook so you can easily contact suppliers on social media for quotes and availability.
Send save-the-date to all your guests, normally 6-8 months before, digital save-the-dates are a fast and cost-effective option. It’s important to choose your wedding party early so they can plan accordingly.
4 Months Before Your Wedding – Finalise the Details
(Send Invitations, Ceremony and Reception Details, Hair and Makeup Trials & Order Wedding Bands)
When designing and sending invitations keep the timeline tight: send formal invitations about 3-4 months before the wedding.
Make sure to plan your ceremony and reception details. Work with your venue to outline the ceremony structure & finalise your menu, seating chart, and décor.
Book your hair & makeup trial to ensure your look is exactly what you want.
Last but not least, order your wedding bands. Choose and order rings to allow time for sizing or engraving.
3 Months Before Your Wedding – Focus on the Finishing Touches
(Confirm with Suppliers, Wedding Day Timeline, Marriage License & Plan Your Honeymoon)
Reconfirm dates, times, and specifics with all suppliers to avoid last-minute surprises.
Make sure to prepare for the marriage license, research the requirements and apply within the appropriate window. Always check with the registrar regarding when you must have done your Notice of Marriage (normally 12 weeks before your wedding)
The Weeks Leading Up to the Wedding
(Final Fittings, Pack a Wedding Day Emergency Kit)
It’s the final fitting, ensure your dress or suit fits perfectly.
At Talhenbont we hold a final planning meeting 6 weeks before your Big Day. A final run through of all the details and final guest numbers.
Then you’re all set!
